Situation
Marin General Hospital, formally Sutter Health, is Marin County’s largest independent, locally run hospital. As Sutter, the hospital suffered from a much maligned reputation among the community and healthcare industry. Now, as Marin General, the challenge was to showcase a new hospital and administration deeply committed to quality and clinical excellence and the people of Marin.
Approach
Harden met directly with Marin General’s CEO to hear his vision for the newly independent hospital and what would change under his leadership in terms of services and commitment to patient satisfaction. Harden further worked with Marin General’s marketing team to coordinate our efforts on a tagline that would embody the hospital’s new identity as “Your Healing Place.”
Results
Harden secured outstanding local and national media for Marin General’s CEO to evangelize his vision for the new hospital resulting in highly favorable coverage in the Marin Independent Journal, San Francisco Business Times, Becker’s, Modern Healthcare, Bloomberg, and keynotes at the SF Business Times Healthcare Summit and Becker’s prominent annual CEO Roundtable. Working with local print media and broadcast affiliates, Harden further touted the myriad of new offerings and services available to Marinites and why residents should stay in their own community for quality care. This near year-long media push resulted in changed public perception and the hospital becoming renown as a destination for quality care and “Your Healing Place.”
